Amy Shrock is the new assistant principal here at Harding High School, As an assistant principal she helps with a lot involving the school, one of the things being planning objectives and identifying school needs as the basis for figuring out long and short-range plans for the school. Shrock used to teach batons and rifles before getting more involved in the administration, but as an administrator, she can’t get involved in our extracurricular activities. She went to college as an undergrad at the College of Miami in Ohio, along with Xavier for her master's in education and Ohio State for superintendent classes, which she had learned much from there. Mrs. Shrock had started out working with students who were involved in juvie court and saw kids who had no support and wanted to become a teacher, and later schools directed her into being a principal which she enjoys. If she hadn’t become an assistant principal she would’ve done some sort of botany or had a greenhouse, just something outside, she loves outside activities and always jokes that when she retires she’ll raise flowers and puppies and grandkids. Shrock is originally from Marblehead, Ohio where she attended the same school K-12.
Mrs. Shrock’s 4th year with MCS was at Grant, she started as a high school principal, did 9 years at middle school, and decided she wanted to come to Harding because we had an opening and saw she could try and replace who left. Shrock loves Harding, her grandfather and great-grandfather went here, then moved to Marblehead and started a marina, her grandma was from Larue. Her favorite thing about Harding is the students seem to be caring and welcoming and her least favorite is probably just navigating the Marion streets and getting to learn the building as well. In Mrs. Shrock’s free time, she loves to be by the water. She has a jetski, a boat, and enjoys going to the beach, and she has also planted milkweed and had monarch caterpillars breed there.
