BenQ boards: Are they loved or hated?

pattyforeman87

Introduced this year to all classrooms are the BenQ boards. BenQ boards are digital whiteboards that all have germ resistant technology, anti glare glass display, and low blue light filters; which help reduce eye strain so that students and teachers can look at the boards without headaches. These BenQ boards are SIAA (The Society of International Sustaining Growth for Antibacterial Articles) certified.

With this new technology being introduced, and there being minimal training on them; some teachers are having problems getting used to them. Each teacher has different problems with them. Some don’t like them at all, some are having a hard time getting used to them, many are having technological problems with them causing teachers to become very frustrated, and others love them.

There was a teacher who was so upset with their BenQ board that they refused an interview.

While the BenQ boards were introduced, to make room for them; whiteboards had to be removed from classrooms. Miss. Donough only had one whiteboard and it was replaced by the BenQ board. There are times when she misses her old white board, such as when the touch screen on her new board does not work. So, there are times when she wishes she could just have her old whiteboard back.

Another downside to the new boards are their size. They are noticeably smaller than the previous white boards. A lot of teachers expressed problems with students not being able to read things on the board, where they could with the old white boards.

However, not all is bad. Most teachers love how simple and easy the BenQ boards are to use, given that there are no tech problems. Teachers also seem to love the touch screen aspect, which allows them to stand up and interact with class more. “I get to spend more time teaching on my feet, instead of sitting at my desk. In previous years I had to sit at my desk and scroll…it’s like a giant phone,” Mr. Seymour said.
