Hot off the press and hot with their mouths is the brand new Debate Club. Debate Club had its first meeting Monday January 9th, and due to days we have been out of school, has not been able to have another meeting so far, but if all goes well another meeting will occur every Monday possible.

The teacher leader of this club is Mr. Fagen, government teacher and friend to all. While the student leader is everyone’s favorite Trinity Ficklin. Members are short and far between, but everyone is hopeful as they have only had one meeting under their belt and plan to have more. Members include Christen Pearson, Abby Knight, and Charlie Johnson.

Leader Trinity Fricklin is extra cheerful about the future of debate club, saying “I’m very hopeful for debate club. We only have four people including me. I do hope to build our team more. I’m fine with four people though.”

Trinity has also said she feels very passionate about this club and thinks the feeling is shared among her club members. The members of Debate Club are also shooting for the stars, wanting to travel as a debate team and participate in competitions.

Debate Club isn’t for the easily aggravated, Trinity has plans to debate strong topics such as the new abortion laws, lgbtqa+ rights, women's rights, and environmental rights, among a variety of other topics.

Debate Club meets every Monday, from 2:30 till 3:30 in Mr. Fagen’s room, 113. The whole club is ready to expect new members and welcome anyone with open arms as long as they are respectful. If you want a club that’ll make you learn how to make an argument for things you believe in, Debate Club is the place to be.
