“I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too!” will be heard throughout the halls this November as the school's musical The Wizard of Oz fastly approaches.
Cast picks include Shelby Stimson as Dorothy Gale, Eliana Bush as Aunt Em and Glinda, Raiden Sipes as Uncle Henry and Emerald city guard, Carter Rawlins as Zeke and Cowardly Lion, Mateusz Lisiecki as Hickory and Tinman, Brody Cahill as Hunk and Scarecrow, Iris Deeren as Miss Gulch and The Wicked Witch of the West, Parker Zent as the Professor and The Wizard of Oz, Alexander Lisiecki as Nikko, and Quinn Menzie as Winkie General, along with a whole supporting cast and chorus, and of course you can’t forget the stand-in’s.
When talking with Mrs. Rawlins, she stated that she is “very confident in the casting” and this opinion seems to be unanimous among cast, grew, and fans. Many of the cast members also seem to have a passion for the musical and hope to give it their all.
Everyone also
seems to be pretty confident in the choice of The Wizard of Oz, and how well the cast will perform. Carter Rawlins stated “I think everyone is going to do perfectly in whatever they are.” Along with that he also mentioned “there's so many things in this show that are gonna be entertaining for the audience”
The Wizard of Oz is definitely the best choice for this year's high school musical, Mrs. Rawlins says “it was the best fit” and many seem to agree and are excited to be members of the audience or cast. Carter also seems to agree, stating “I think The Wizard of Oz fits our choir department and school very well because there is a role that fits everyone very well.”
Many also seem to believe that musical theater is very important. Some state “Because it gets people to have new connections they might not have had before” meaning it can help you make new friends. It also allows you to break someone out of their shell, or someone break you out of your own. Musical theater can also help you tap into a passion you might not have had before, but for some students it's a healthy outlet to be themselves in an environment they feel safe in thanks to friends and teachers.
The musical The Wizard of Oz will be held on November 11th, 12th, and 13th at the palace theater. Mrs. Rawlins wants everyone to know:
“we are just getting started.”
