Taryn Simmers

Taryn Simmers is one of many girls who have been elected to represent the 2022 homecoming court and will be escorted by Jordan Hensley. Right now, she plays tennis and softball for Harding and loves it; her favorite memory is winning her first tennis doubles tournament her sophomore year. “That really was a good memory,” Taryn remarks, smiling.

To her, being homecoming queen means “...your whole school loves you, and you’ve done a good job throughout your whole four years!” She believes that a queen should also be friendly and respectful to everyone.

The person who inspires Taryn the most is her mom, because “she’s such a strong woman and she’s been through so much,” but Taryn also tells us that she is motivated by her goals and trying to be a better person every day.

If she could go back in time and tell her younger self anything, she would say, “I’m proud of you, and keep doing what you’re doing.” Her advice for younger students at Harding is to learn how to be your own, amazing person and stop caring so much about what other people think. “Be a [boss],” Taryn says.

In regards to how this will affect her Harding legacy, Taryn says she’s excited that everyone will get to see her and the rest of the nominees out there. “We all get…special recognition, just for us.”
