Harding Venus Club is hosting their fourth annual holiday Movie Night this Saturday, December 7th, from 5 to 8pm in the Media Center at Harding. Tickets are $1 per person, and will be sold upon entry. There will be snacks and drinks available for purchase for only $1 each, so bring some money if you would like to snack on something while watching movies!
Two holiday films will be shown-- Elf and A Charlie Brown Christmas. This event is open to more than just Harding students; feel free to bring your friends and families! Venus Club’s Movie Night is meant to be an affordable way for people to have a fun and easy evening out within their community.
In addition to your favorite people, bring some blankets and pillows with you and dress in comfortable clothes; after all, any Movie Night is meant to be cozy and comfy! However, please refrain from bringing your own snacks or drinks, as those will be provided for only a dollar each.
Since Movie Night has been established, more and more people have come to enjoy it every year, and Venus members hope to see even more this Saturday! People in attendance of the event will be supporting Venus Club, who will use the funding to further their future achievements, like buying more books to read to elementary schoolers. After they’re done with these books, they plan to donate them to elementary libraries so kids can keep reading them forever.
In the past, these sorts of activities have been a big hit within the Marion community, and Venus Club members would want nothing more than to keep spreading this joy. “I think it’s a really fun space,” says club leader Lacy. “We always laugh and talk a lot, and I think it’s fun doing…all the different stuff that we do.”
Venus Club is devoted to building connections between people and creating a happy, safe community. Mrs. Latham, the club advisor, sums up the purpose of Venus Club by saying that they are “trying to build a community where everyone is accepted.”
Venus members hope to see you along with your friends and family at Movie Night on Saturday! Go and support them so they can keep achieving their goal of bringing people together and creating a safe, happy space for everyone.
