The Marion Harding Marching Band has started off their season great by qualifying for the OMEA State Finals competition during their 2nd competition on October 2nd at Ottawa-Glandorf High School.
Their show is titled “Movin’ On Up” and represents the ups and downs in life with featured soloist Ronnie Prater who is a senior this year at Harding. If you would like to see this year’s show, look up “Marion Harding Marching Band” on YouTube or visit Marion City Schools Band Department on Facebook.
This will be the band’s 32nd consecutive year for qualifying states.
A couple band members were asked questions about the season so far and how they feel about this accomplishment. One question that was asked was “how do you feel about making states again?” One student answered, “I feel happy about it. It’s nice to know that I’ve helped with that accomplishment and got to make memories while doing it.” Another student answered, “I feel ecstatic about making states again, especially because this is my first actual competitive season because of COVID restrictions last year.”
Another question that was asked to band members was “what do you hope to accomplish at states and for the rest of the season?” One student said that they would like “to become a strong, close-knit group of performers” for this season.
This year's state competition will be on Saturday, October 30th, at Hilliard-Bradley High School.
Congratulations to this outstanding and historic accomplishment made by the Marion Harding Marching Band! Let’s wish them good luck for another qualification next year.
