On January 19, Marion City Schools renewed the mask mandate. All students and staff are required to wear masks, just like it used to be before the mandate was rescinded. While some find wearing masks annoying or useless, others believe that they are very helpful and that everyone should wear them.
It is not a big deal to wear one, and it’s helping not only yourself, but others around you as well. Masks are not hard to get used to and they have been recommended for 2 years, so most people should already be used to wearing them just because of how long they have been required if following proper COVID protocol.
It is a good idea to reinstate the mask mandate due to how many online days we have had, and how many teachers have had to stay home due to them having COVID or their family having it. Many agree, with some even saying “I am glad the mandate has been renewed,” and that “I feel it should never have gone away to begin with.” There are also people who do not like wearing a mask, but will for the sake of others and when asked to do so which is reassuring to hear.
Yet others believe that wearing a mask is useless, and they gain nothing from wearing one. There are certain situations where wearing a mask can be annoying, such as when it is hot in a room, or if someone is wearing glasses and they fog up. However, there are people who also have to go through this and wear their mask correctly even through tough situations.
