He was born and raised in Marion, OH. He went to Mark Street Elementary. He also went to Harding High School. For college, he went to University of Toledo for 5 years on an Athletic scholarship playing football. “I decided to go into education as an Art teacher, I was inspired by Mrs. Felgar, who was a previous Art teacher here at Harding when I was here.” This would mark his 24th year teaching. He doesn’t have a particular favorite color, he has learned to appreciate all the colors in the world, even Bowling Green! (.... That was funny, right?)
He has an adorable Aussiedoodle named Bo Jackson, and everybody loves Bo. “We’ll be in the store and they’ll greet him before they greet me.”
He’s been enjoying his time at Harding so far, “Even though the kids are older, they still have a little bit of a kid essence to them. I would say they are more self sufficient, it’s less taxing than elementary.” He has mentioned that he feels as though maybe he should’ve moved to the highschool sooner. “You don’t really push yourself to go and try something new, so from that standpoint I should've done this a long time ago.”
A hobby he really enjoys is home improvement projects. “I like the challenge of putting things together and taking them apart. I think that's the crafty side, being creative and having that freedom to just be creative. You take something that’s old and damaged, bring it back and put your own signature on it. I like doing that. But as I get older I would like to do a lot of things, like I would like to travel, I would like to be my own boss, manage my own time, and live like everyday is a Saturday or a Friday.” He likes to do gardening even though he currently doesn’t have one. He also likes to cut his grass. “Some people don’t like to cut their grass” Last but not least, he loves spending time with his family whenever he gets the chance. If he could go back in time to do another career path, he'd focus more on business. “I think business is very important, especially in the African American community.”
The role models in his life include: His parents and The Community of Marion.
He’d like to give a shoutout to all past Harding Staff and Alumni, The Community of Marion, Both Brett McCrery (Father & Son), Mrs. Bebout, Phil George, Tim Hidden, The Ratliff Family (JC, Rocky, and Jeff Ratliff). “Those are really good people, I can’t say anything bad about them.
