Typically, March holds the title for being the month of leprechauns, and April is rather known for its pastel colors, candy, and anthropomorphic bunny creature. But this year, many people were left confused, some even distraught, when they came to realize that March had taken both annual holidays for itself.
This year, 2024, Easter occurred in March rather than its usual month, April. Most people suspect that Easter comes after the first Sunday of each April, so they were muddled when coming to find out that it gets a lot deeper than that. Easter isn’t determined by just the weekday as assumed, it actually has to do with the moon as well. Easter is fully determined on the first Sunday after the first full moon that is followed by the spring equinox.
Easter could very well not be in April, it just seems that this year, the spring equinox happened on its earliest date possible. The full moon must have come early as well.
So, no, Easter is not always in April, so don’t be surprised if it happens in March again. In fact, during the year of 2027, Easter will be in March then as well. Same with the years 2032, 2035, 2043, and so on.
