We have all seen students carrying around all types of caffeine, some like Monster and Starbucks coffee, and the occasional Rockstar. You can only help but wonder what this caffeine is doing to our bodies.

Caffeine can be just as beneficial as it can be bad for you, It has been proven to help with Concentration and Alertness as well as help with any depleted energy. Just as caffeine can wake you up and make you energized it can also cause insomnia and depression.
If a human body becomes too dependent on caffeine and their caffeine intake decreases they are at risk of a caffeine withdrawal, which can cause A headache, tiredness, reduced energy and alertness, low mood, and low concentration. The healthiest amount of caffeine for your body is 400 milligrams, caffeine has a similar structure to Adenosine, a chemical that is present in all human cells. In the brain Adenosine acts as a CNS (Central nerve system) depressant just as caffeine acts like a stimulant.
Some fun facts about caffeine, there are more than 60 plant species that have caffeine inside of it, including coffee beans, Dola nuts, cacao beans, etc. Caffeine in plants acts as a natural pesticide. It kills insects that attempt to feed on them.
